My daughter was curious: why do you take so many pictures of the sky, Mum?
I look up as a reality check. So much of life is spent capturing images of self, the disparate lives of ourselves and others, and scant thought given to that relevance on a wider stage. Up is perennial reminder we are only the tiniest part of a most incredible whole. The sky’s blueness, or blackness, plus all the points in between becomes indelible reminder of the brilliance of nature, and how fragile that balance remains.
This is a permanent prompt to look after what I have, and do so well.
You’ll be seeing a lot more photography around these parts in the weeks that follow.
